As a kid Paulina was a wallflower, a keen observer of the minute peculiarities of human behaviour. Fascinated by all things visual and possessing a deft hand for fine arts, when it came to pick a vocation in life, the decision came easily: she would become a painter. Painting soon merged with applied arts, design, and eventually intermedia arts, and it was during her studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava that she started making short experimental films and installations using video. Having grown up heavily influenced by independent American cinema and music videos, Paulina’s academic career quickly pushed into courses at the Academy of Performing Arts, where she studied storytelling, camera work, and directing — though never becoming an official student there.
Currently, Paulina works as a freelance director focusing on short films, documentaries, image & fashion films, music videos, and commercials. In 2013 she founded her own studio, Moiré, where she has full ownership over the company’s audio-visual projects, commercials, music videos, and short films executed and delivered for variety of clients.
Commercial directing enables Paulina to do the one thing she really enjoys: solve creative challenges through a variety of approaches, in an ever-changing industry where new trends and technologies constantly rewrite the rules. But through all this, Paulina does not abandon the passion and focus that brought her, nor the dream that propels her forward — to use that same deft hand in creating feature films with gripping stories, balanced with producing stunning and evocative commercials.
